Two years ago, Ryan Lee Stokes was murdered by the Kansas City Police Department after his friend was falsely accused of stealing an iPhone by a drunk man at the Kansas City Power & Light District. Ryan was unarmed, had no drugs or alcohol in his system, and was shot from behind by a KCPD officer. He had no criminal record.

After his death, police and media attempted to drag his good name through the mud in a shameless attempt to justify his murder. The Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners went as far as awarding a certificate of commendation to the officer who killed Ryan.
It’s time to set the record straight and correct the false image of Ryan. He was a father and a hard worker who was deeply committed to his family and his community. This is the fourth in a series of videos that will provide an accurate and complete picture of who Ryan was, as well as the community and family who loved and adored him, and who still grieve his loss.
